Putting the "Pee" in "Positive"...

After experiencing it first-hand, I now understand what my mommy friends had meant when they said they "just knew".   We bought a children's book in Bali, but if it weren't for Anthony telling me I'm being ridiculous, I would have bought some of the cute onesies they had there too!  But then again, being the superstitious one I am, I probably would have not gone through with the purchase of them anyway.

As soon as we returned home from Bali on November 7th, I just knew things "felt different"...I can't really explain it.  We both anxiously went right to CVS after we got home and bought the earliest detection test possible (a 3-pack!).  Well, after negative outcomes on November 7th and 9th, my pee finally passed the test on Sunday, November 13, 2011!  Of course I immediately started racking my brain for pregnancy no-no's I was guilty of before this was confirmed and started freaking out a bit.  (I will say, that while I regret consuming the little bit of alchohol that I did, it is a bit sad to think that the last alcoholic drink I had was a pathetic attempt at a bloody mary at the Ruby Tuesdays in Pottsville, PA on November 12th!)  I didn't have too much time to dwell on this because I needed to figure out how to get a hold of Anthony, who was back in Florida at the time, and also I needed to catch a flight to Germany that night!

While in retrospect, I wish I would have been a bit more creative in telling the wonderful news to Anthony, at the time I was so overwhelmed by different emotions (i.e. disbelief, excitement, etc.) that it didn't matter how I told him, he just needed to know...and immediately!  So while in a tizzy getting my luggage together and out the door to head to the airport, I frantically called the Golf Shop at Seminole, left a desperate sounding message for Anthony to call me back, and then proceeded to text Anthony.  Well, when he got back to me on text, I hastily fired one right back at him...

3rd times a charm!  Doesn't matter how faint it is, that 2nd line is definitely there!
(That pic was taken after I rushed the test from the bathroom floor to the bedroom windowsill to make sure that 2nd line was really there!)

Anthony, probably also in disbelief, replied something to the effect of "does that mean what I think it means??"  We chatted on my way to the airport and once I got there, I forwarded this same pic to my best friend, Kyra Marks, who was so excited for us!  I needed to know what I could and couldn't eat as I was staring at the buffet in the airport lounge (and also trying to avoid my boss who was sure to offer me a cocktail as soon as I saw him).  Further pregnancy no-no's were successfully avoided on my trip and now after having revealed my pregnancy to work, I'm pretty sure no one suspected a thing back then!  When I returned home and Anthony was back up north, I took another test with him on November 16th and that time there was no mistaking that 2nd line!

I also read the last of my fiction books on that trip, "The Help" and "Sarah's Key".  The following non-fiction numbers are now in my routine rotation:

Thanks to those who helped build my collection!

While I was away on this Germany trip, my Grandmother ("Baba") passed away on Monday, November 14th at the amazing age of 96.  I couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed that I was so close to giving her another great-grandchild, but for some strange reason, I feel she "just knew" too when I saw her for the last time that prior Saturday.  She mentioned something about a baby to my mom and I and we weren't sure what she was talking about.  Her last words to me were "Good night and don't let the bed bugs bite", which is what she would always say to me when I was little.  I know she is still with us and I'm pretty sure I'll probably adopt some of her infamous vocabulary and sayings when our little one arrives.  God Bless you, Baba!  Always with us...

Love,
Ulana & Anthony
